i recently found a small white stone kind of thingy inside a coconut i had eaten. i planted it in the hope that it was a coconut seed and would grow into a palm tree. can someone please tell me what it is. from joe aged12
Hi wii man, Good to see you back!
With the coconut, its the whole thing that is the seed, it actually holds the world record for the largest seed (coco de mer) or the double coconut!
You may have seen these plants on sale in garden centres and even super markets these days. they have huge spear shaped leaves which is the seed leaf, they can be grown indoors for a few years, when they get too big you can donate them to your local Chinese take-away. Good Luck Tbird+
I dont know really, Ithink its to make it look nice for their customers.
They mostly have high ceilinge and good space, out- grown Yucca plants are the usual ones. All the Best Tbird+
that is spooky my neighbour has a yucca plant in their front garden and i asked my mum what it was because it is really hard to tear. i will give you a quiz why is called a yucca plant
Maybe the white stone thingy was another coconut, a baby one that somehow got started inside the one you opened...but it just couldn't develop any more.
Sometimes you see this kind of thing with bell peppers when you cut them open - little ones inside the big one.
