Reminds me of a time way back when Musk perfumes were all the rage. Although you could not 'smell' them on yourself, they would mingle with your own body chemistry, thus giving a unique scent for those near to you.

Queuing up at a sandwich bar in Leadenhall Street, I sensed a person behind me getting closer and closer. Finally, he whispered into my ear (in a rich brown voice) "My God, you smell gorgeous!!" Flattered but slightly embarrassed, I turned around to thank him - and the voice matched the looks - a dead ringer for Ian McShane!!
I then went scarlet, (probably would have been better if he hadn't looked so good lol). From then on I was most careful how much I dabbed behind my ears!
