I've bought a t-shirt from Hong Kong and its supposed to arrive within a fortnight, but i was wondering if the airports were quarrantining items from Hong Kong, me and my mum were joking about quarantining it in the shed but maybe the airports are really doing this.. Ta xx

Don't know but you could put them in the freezer for a week or something which might kill any viruses on them ? I don't see how a shed would help because t-shirts can't breathe or die hehe :)

The virus needs to be in the human body to survive. Even if someone with SARS spat on your T-shirt in China it would dry and the bacteria would die. Relax, you won't die if you wear it.

Viruses aren't able to survive on inanimate objects, they need a host, eg animals or plants, depending on the virus. They can only infect you by transfer of bodily fluids. You cannot (at the moment) kill any viruses. You can only slow down their processes or be immune before coming into contact with one. Or have some sort of tolerance to them. Like the common cold virus, we can cope with it if our immune system is working properly but you can't cure it. Eskimos would die from the cold believe it or not. The freezer idea would only kill certain bacteria. P.s Viruses are completely different from bacteria.
