What do you all feel about this guy? For those who have not been following the news, he is the one tried to kill himself and his kids by jumping off the balcony of his holiday hotel with his kids in his arms. He has killed his son but he and his daughter survived the fall. Whilst I think that the act of committing suicide and trying to take your innocent kids who have every right to live their lives, is the ultimate in selfishness and truly evil to do this to their wife/husband/partner, I still cannot help but feel some compassion for him. He now wants to kill himself as he hates himself so much for what he has done. He is now facing a murder charge, unless he manages to kill himself first. What a sad, sad story. And how do some people seemingly suffer such depression that they see this as the only way out? It seems that his side of the family had major depression problems as (I believe) two of his brothers also committed suicide. What brings people to want to do this? I want to really hate this man for what he has done to his wife who now has to try to pull her life back together and of course for his and her family who will be suffering, BUT I do feel sorry for him. By the way it has been reported that his wife still has love for him and is supporting him in a manner. Does anyone else agree or disagree with my thoughts. By the way, can we please have a reasoned discussion in your responses to this? I have been reading a few threads that people who disagree with the poster, are letting their anger colour their responses and it destroys any proper debate as the arguement that follows get in the way of the original question! I am interested to hear your thoughts on this one!

Excellent, calm reason has returned.

And the sausage roll is a "she" :)

sue11, a thread of this nature is bound to arouse strong feeling, but I should have reacted with less anger.

However, nobody knows what happened. It was entirely wrong of course, but I think suffering should breed compassion without of course side-stepping justice.

Other bloodthirsty responses are fairly typical and may be ignored as such.

Hi Whiffey, there definately have been some strong responses and it is very easy to let your feelings jump in the way first and then reason after! I am no angel and I reacted perhaps unfairly on one thread due to feeling that I had been misunderstood. Also isn't it easy for others to misunderstand a reply? I think as one poster said that a simple punctuation can make a comment take on a completely different understanding from what is meant! Anyway I have got off the subject, thanks for your response!
Sue
sue? You've been the nicest poster and answerer (that a word??) I've seen today :-)
Whiffey you little rascal , you do love to tease us , don't you ? Case in point :

Could you explain that then please ? Are you Arthur or Martha ???

Apologies Sue but I had to ask as in the first 'she' is a 'fairly young woman' and in the second , is a 'bloke'. So come on Whiffey , it's make your mind up time lol !

Whoa Ward Minter, that is definately very strong! I am not going to judge too much, except to say that I am presuming in my simple manner that you two have had a previous falling out!!!
I can only say that Whiffey has come up with some interesting and fair comments and perhaps it is a bit unfair on this occassion to jump in with comments like this at this time?
enigma, what is the point you are trying to make ?

rascal maybe lol, forgetful sometimes too. I am a terrible hairdresser.

Can't say that I have ever forgotten my own gender though Whiffey ! I think that certain physical features remind me of this every day lol ! Are you really telling us that you are that forgetful that you forgot your own gender ? How does that work then ? You wouldn't be telling porkies now would you lol !

Hello Boo, thank you very much! It is very nice to be appreciated!
Hi Enigma, you obviously know more about Whiffey than I do! I can only say that my feelings are tthat for me, whoever Whiffey really is, while he/she comes up with reasonable and fair comments, then I will listen and appreciate. But that obviously is my own experience with Whiffey!
Wardy, I like ya, I really do, but this constant use of other peoples posts to have a go at whiffey is boring, not to mention showing distinct lack of breeding and class- which you claim to have by the bucketload.
whiffey,do you not fancy jumping from a great height to the ground...say 4000 feet.....without a parashute
Hi Sue,

I have read with interest this story, and from what i have read its difficult fto feel any sympathy for this man.

One of the tabloids reported that he did it out of pure anger, and outrage from the fact that his wife had told him that she wanted a divorce. The holiday in greece was to try and make their marriage better and have a new start as it was on a very rocky road.

The thing that upsets me about this man , is that he was drunk and an argument broke out and in his anger, he took the little boy (his son) out of his bed whilst asleep and threw him over the balcony first, then grabbed the little girl and jumped with her in his arms, hence why they survived and the little boy died.

IM not sure if he was depressed as ive not read anything of that kind, however, he did have a very troubled family background with blood relatives..... but no matter how depressed anyone is, surely you dont involve children in this kind of things with a moment of madness. So in that respect i have no sympathy for him.

I believe that he should be sent to prison and on constant suicide watch, as for him to be given the easy option and to nw try and kill himself is the easy option for this man. He should be made to suffer and be reminded that an innocent child - his own son - has died tragically due to his actions.

Its time for John Hogan to suffer and continue to do so in my opinion...

sorry if my views offend, but we all have a right to comment.
