Sandra you are not alone in this. I wake up regularly at 4-5 am.

On the positive side, it is a time of peace, no engines revving, just a time to be quiet with yourself.
If i wake up in the night,i always feel hungry so end up nipping downstairs to raid the cupboard,,hate waking in the night!!
Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and wondered oh why have I woken up it must be because I am ill, therefore you start to feel ill ?

The cure is a large Jack Daniels.

It's usually when I have things on my mind, then you lie there and think or worry about it for hours, but I think I'll get a bottle of JD in for next time, thanx whiffey
If I wake up on my own in the middle of the night, I am awake enough to read until I feel sleepy again.

If something wakes me up (loud noise, phone ringing, kids calling out etc), I wake up enough to deal with whatever it is whilst still feeling a bit dozy, fall asleep again almost immediately after, then wake up fully about 5 mins later to not be able to get to sleep easily. I presume it is adrenaline for the first bit, not sure what it is for the second part. It's all a bit perculiar (sp).
