I posted a question on here some months back about anaesthetic for having teeth out. Well, I got my new bottom teeth this week (five in all) which are joined together with a metal bar which lies just behind the front teeth. They look GREAT but feel at the minute as if I'm sucking an everlasting gobstobber or something. No-one I've mentioned them to have heard of a part denture like this but the dentist said they're really common. Has anyone got one and how long did you take to get used to them?

I had one fitted a long time ago but could never get on with it. I have a plate with a few teeth on the top and these are no problem but the one you describe, I just could not get on with. As I only had three teeth on one side and one on the other, I decided not to bother with it. I am sure if you persevere, you will be ok. Just couldn't get used to the metal bar.
Hi mydogsandme, I have recently had my new dentures fitted , both part plates upper and lower. I have worn an upper plate before so the lower one took some getting used to. However after a month they are popped in in the morning and forgotten. !! Try to persevere if you can , not only will they help with eating but they may well alter the shape of your face, Good luck X

thanks this is what I'm hoping as my face has gone in a bit. I've still got a couple missing at the top but I might have those done next year if I get on okay with these.
