Is ok to wear a white shirt? or does it have to be a dark colour? Do you have to wear a tie?

Traditionally in the UK, people wear dark coloured suits, white shirt and Black tie.
It would probably cause some raised eyebrows from the Oldies if a man failed to wear a tie.

If the funeral is for a younger person, the family sometimes specify 'no black' or 'light colours' ... if it is a younger person and you aren't sure what to wear, then the best thing to do is ring the Undertaker and ask their opinion.

Regards, Mort
I went to the funeral of my cousin on Saturday. There were all ages there. Most of the men had white shirts & black or dark coloured ties on, but some had a dark shirt.
in ireland, you only wear black if you are a mourner (a member of the family or something).

But I would wear a tie if I were him...
Yes - woulod agree with the previous.

Modern families are less expectant about sombre dress for funerals - it does depend on the age of the majority of the mourners, and indeed the deceased.

If you wear a white shirt and black tie, you can;t go wring, but if in doubt, wear something darker rather than lighter.
