I am thinking about visiting a hypnotherapist to try and break an annoying hair-playing habbit that drives by boyfriend mad, and leaves my hair looking dry and frazzled all the time!

Does anybody have any experience of hypnotherapists as I am a little concerned about being hypnotised!!

Hi
Yes I went to see one once about 4 years ago and am thinking about going back to see him.
I have bitten my nails since an early age and still do ;-(
the session lasted for just over an hour (I think).
he played calming music in the background to make me relaxed and the first session was pretty basic. by the third/fourth one, i was very relaxed. Not really asleep. I could hear everything he was saying to me. But it did work. But it is the sort of treatement you have to carry on having quite frequently to have a massive impact. After each session I didnt bit my nails for about 2 weeks afterwards.
But everyones habits are so different so you may have a different result!
Where do you live?

I live in Rugby in Warwickshire so would be wanting to go somewhere quite local to me.

How much did you pay for your sessions Kate77??
Goodness cant remember but I think it was about 35. I used to go around to his house. if you bear with me it is a funny story!
My brother dropped me outside and I rang the doorbell and his wife answered and let me in. She said he is just on the phone and wont be long and when he finished he came into the dining room and sat down and said I how can i help you, I smiled and said I was here about my nails and he looked at me all confused. he had his diary in front of him and said what do you mean and I said I was here for the Hypnotherpy to stop me biting my nails. He then said he wasnt a hypnotist but the local vicar at the church around the corner! I was like this isnt 26 F Road and he said no this is 26 Oak Road! I was so embarrassed!
I then legged it to the correct road and knocked at the door, the guy opened it and said I know what has happend! I was well spooked because I thought he could read my mind! turns out he had rang my house and my brother told him where he had dropped me off! I was so embarrassed! I live in Essex so my old one is no good to you!
just did a google search and these may help

http://www.thehypnotherapyassociation.co.uk/wa rwickshire.htm

the last site lists three that are based in warwickshire but not sure if they are near you!

Good luck with it all x
I would recommend hypnotherapy, I used it to stop smoking, I haven't had a ciggy in 12 months, worked a treat. Whilst you are under hypnosis, you will be fully aware of everything you are told and if you want you could even get up and walk out, its nothing like you see on the telly, you are in complete control at every stage, in fact it is a very pleasurable experience and so totally relaxed, even better than a spliff!!! I wanted to go back the next day just to be hypnotised.
