leak from shower pump
2 Answers
i have recently had new shower fitted which runs through a pump as I live in upper flat and water pressure isnt great. This is the 2nd shower pump which has started to leak shortly after switching the shower off. i can control the water pressure from a tap on pipe next to the w.c. but im at my wits end with this. any suggestions please? since turning the water off at this tap, the shower pump is dry but im scared to turn the water back on incase the pump starts to leak again. its leaking out quite hard. has the pump perhaps broken a seal or something?

Or do you switch the pump off manually, it sounds to me that you are turning off the shower and the pump is running on building up pressure, if so then you will have to make sure that you always switch off the pump first and also turn the shower on before you switch pump on.
If the pump is new it should have a built in electric sensor which detects that you are running the shower and then the pump comes on and goes off automatically.
I suggest you get this checked a. s. a. poss.

if your pump is connected to the water pipes by flexible push fit connectors & as you said you have low water pressure then it could well always leak as there is not enough pressure to expand the joint & make the O -ring & grab ring hold tight. if this is the case get your plumber back & ask them to replace the pump with a compression fitting ridgid piped pump . The plumber should have known this in the first instance & should not have fitted the flexible one in the first place.
