Miracle of stairway B

Did anybody watch the Miracle of stairway B on the 4th Sept? I found it facsinating and at the same time incomprehendable. Every time I see the devastation of what happpened on 9/11 it still shocks the system. The documentary about the firemen who survived but also the hundreds of firemen that lost their lives was upseting but really brought home the drama of what actually happened to them. I do think that it's unnessesary to keep showing footage of the planes hitting and the towers collapsing. What do you think anyway?

like every other country...9/11...boring..i am tired of 'miracles' surrounding this now!

so what it happened... the world is expected to stand still because it's greatest power got shown exactly how easy it is to bring such a nation to it's knees!

don't get me wrong I despise terrorists, but it's nice how the US never mentions it's failing on 9/11 just how remarkable and strong they all are

theres one 'great firefighting hero!' who left his wife to shack up with his 'buddies' widow after she got her payout!

Thanks for your answer capper1985, you are entitled to your opinion. There are some things about America that grate on me, however I was merely praising the efforts of those firefighters involved who risked (and some lost) their lives to try their utmost to save others, it's not really about the nation, more the fact that humanity can prevail even with such dyer consequences.
I don't for one minute think that the survivors of stairway B were part of a miracle, I just think for 14 people to survive where 1300 more perished is unbelievable, they were probably the luckiest people on the face of the earth.

Having watched a few of the 9/11 programmes recently, I was struck at how little the firemen were able to do.

It reminded me of the film, 'The Towering Inferno' when the fire chief, played by Steve McQueen chastises Paul Newman's architect for continuing to build such high buildings when architects know it makes the firefighters job nigh on impossible.

It seems strange that firemen undergo such intensive and specialised training and yet on 9/11, they seemed to act as nothing more than guides in the evacuation. They must have felt so helpless. I thought they were very brave men hampered by a surprising lack of emergency coordination and planning.

I hope all western nations have made efforts to improve in these areas, especially in the use of a more effective communication system.

Thanks suffragette, very good comment. Also that film you mentioned, I saw the very end of it the other day and was curious to know what it was called as it looked to be a good film. I shall endevour to watch it.
The emergency planning was virtually non-exsitent which is awful in an age of high rise buildings.
I think that some efforts have been made to improve communication and training since 9/11 but at the cost of 2 thousand people's lives. If my memory serves some fire chiefs have since implemented some of the improvements.

Its a case of 'hats of' to these hero`s. The fear that must have gone through these fella`s heads must have been mind blowing. And at the end of the day it was just another day at work for them
