Occasionally I need to drop some saline into my eyes to wet them, but that's it. Yes, if your optician says it's OK, I'd recommend them - but you may want to see if you can get a trial pair as my optician said that not everyone can get on with them.
I wanted some but my optician will only sell them to people who really need them, e.g. doctors, nurses, firemen etc, who are on call and don't have time to fiddle about putting lenses in. Even then he warns them of the 20% increased risk of eye damage and they have to sign a disclaimer accepting this. In his words "I won't sell them to you just because you're lazy". I now use 2-weekly disposables which I take out at night.
'ello, I wear daily disposable contact lenses ... i gotta say i prefer them over the monthly ones as they are less likely to cause eye infections or dry ure eye's out. There are always warnings on things such as eye drops that once open they should be thrown within a fortnight as they grow harmful bacterias which could affect your eyes so i would be a little dubious about using contacts that are left in for a month. We are always having patients in which have been prescribed hypromellose eye drops as they have dry eyes caused by overwearing contact lenses which have absorbed their eyes moisture! However i guess if u used them correctly and cleaned them regularly they might be ok?! AND!! one more hint .... i used to get my contact lenses thru the post from the opticians that tested my eyes which was quite expensive! However ... i know get my contacts from this site which works out far cheaper .. all u need is ure contact lense prescription to send them a copy ... try www.postoptics.co.uk or www.spectacles.gb.com or www.net-optics.co.uk/home T x
Had a girlfriend who wore one pair of daily disposables for our whole relationship about 18 months. [she may well still be wearing the same pair!] Every now and again she'd take them out and clean them and that was it. I thought she was mad so made her get her eyes tested incase she'd damaged them and her eyesight had actually improved! So my advice is don't bother with the expensive continous ones get a pair of daily ones for a couple of quid and go for it!
