Irritable bowel syndrome

After tests my doctor has concluded that it's likely that I have IBS and has ruled out coeliacs. Although he has booked me in to the specialist to have (please exuse the spelling) an endoscopy or something like that. As your all probably aware, it's a mini camera up your back passage and they take a small biopsy of the lower intestine. My friend had it done and it sounded horrible. They have given me the enima which I have to use 4 or 5 before the appointment. I'm petrified, I'm contemplating whether to keep the appointment. Surely it's IBS and nothing else. Should I keep the app and be brave or not?

I would suggest you take some liners for your knickers as I'm hoping they lubricate the tube before inserting and that will dribble out when you stand up causing your bum to slip and slide in your pants on the way home. It will probably be less painful than your intended move to Scotland, though!
I've had this done - it's uncomfortable and undignified but if you've ever had children your dignity has already done a runner! Do have it done - it is well worth knowing that hopefully there is nothing sinister going on up there. I've had IBS for over 25 years, since I was a young teen and they did every test imaginable. IBS is quite literally a pain in the **** but it is rarely caused by anything organically serious nor does it necessarily lead to anything bad in later life. Hope you get on ok - good luck!
