Is it possible to have a nightmare so bad that it could kill you (possible by a heart attack)

If so how do you know?

Well if you do know it was a nightmare that killed you there isn't going to be a lot of people to tell is there?
thats a good point sherry1. But maybe if people have died from extreme nightmares doctors etc would just think they had a normal heart attack in there sleep?
Why do you have really bad nightmares or something?

The reason I posted this question is that on occasions I have had a few bad ones. Fortunately the ticker is quite good but if it wasn't what could have happened, death???
I used to have terrible nightmares, still do occasionally, and I'm not dead yet, so I think it's unlikely that literally dying of fright in your sleep happens very often, although I conceed that it might do. Makes you wonder when they say "Died pacefully in his sleep" doesn't it?

I don't think anyone would ever find out that when you died you were having a nightmare. How could you tell someone?
The only way is you are resuscitated and when you wake up you tell someone then.
i would say its absolutely possible and also more common than you'd think.

some of the most terrifying things you can imagine happen to you in dreams - more frightening than much of reality and daily life - such as demons, monsters, serious accidents etc etc, that you more or less experience "for real".
