Gentlemen, I have a theory. Since using this 5-blade beast, I reckon my beard is thicker and I have to shave more. Stands to reason, the more you shave the tougher the hair gets - and each hair is now cut twice as much per stroke! Is it all a scam to make us shave more?

hair does not get tougher the more you shave...it merely appears thicker because the end no longer tapers off and is a blunt cut off
Shave just once a week. It works for me.
I remember when two bladed razors first came - the slogan was something like "it shaves you once, it shaves you twice" I found it cut you once, then made the cut bigger. I think you are very brave using a 5 blader.
