Every single time I shave (I have been using Gillette Turbo razors for years) I bleed. Every single time!! not just in one spot on my neck but in several places and i end up having to hold a moist flanelette against it for 15 minutes so that the blood will stop.

Is it common for blokes to bleed everytime they shave or is it the way I shave where i pass the razor through the same area repeatedly to remove all hair, thus causing irritation?

I once had an electric shaver, those ons u shave dry, and i threw it away because it didnt remove hair properly.
May just be the razor, try a change, I use a Gillette G2, have done for about forty years, and never had a problem, of course, it just coud be you have sensative skin, in which case, a change of blade could do you good,
Mr spurslady or should be forest man as he supports them, uses Wilkinson sword diamond, I got him it as a fathers day presy from the boys and he uses it and doesnt have a nick or rash these days, he used to bleed like mad before with other types he tried, electric made him havea rash aswell.

The blades are dear to buy but I struck lucky when they turned our safeway into morrisons and got 15 packs of 8 for 10p a pack instead of 8.50 a pack! bargain!

wilkinson sword diamond. I see. What distinguishes them from the others then?

OK, first things first. Get yourself a new blade, and some foam with aloe vera, or similar foam for sensitive skin.

Second, try shaving at night before you go to bed - skin is not at its best in the morning.

Soak a flannel in hot water, hot enough to burn your hands. Ring it out (come on, be butch!) and soak it again, and quickly hold it firmly against your throat, and face, over your nose, you'll have rememebered to take a deep breath first of course!

Lather up for a good two or three minutes, letting the lather realy soak in well, massageing your face all the time.

Start under your sideburns and shave really slowly down in nice slow strokes, not going over the same area twice. Never shave 'up' against the growth. Take your time, be very gentle, don't press on, let the blade glide over your skin.

To finish, splash cold water on your face and pat dry with a towel. Rub in some moisturiser. Go to bed.

Next morning, rub in a little moisturiser, and splash your cologne / aftershave on your forehead, a little in your sideburns. but not on your face.

After following this routine, your poor abused skin will start to recover from the hammering you are giving it.

OK, you may not get every single whisker, but who's to know? Whereas right now, everyone knows you shave badly.

Pamper your skin - it deserves it, so drop the 'dettol and bog brush' routine and start being kind. You'll stop bleeding as well!

good advice. Ive always shaved from the bottom up, doing the bit under the sideburns last., and applied the shaving foam and started shaving within seconds.
I do however shave at night before bed and never in thwe morning. Thanks mr hughes.
I havent a clue whats different with the Diamond ones he says they dont drag on the skin like the others.

He wont let me use them on my legs so I dont have no personal experience sorry!

I will ask him when he comes back from th forest game later.
I have the same trouble, gotta keep going over the same area to get a reasonable shave and end up sore and bleeding. I have tried everything possible including various expensive shavers that just made it worse than ever.

I have just found the best ever shaving creme!! from the body shop of all places, you think I jest!! not in the least. Its just called shaving creme, nothing fancy, use that, plenty of real hot water and a good triple blade razor and you are nearly there, not perfect but a vast improvement!! Try it.
As everybody's hair grows in different directions, you cannot tell anybody what direction to shave.

The directions on some products say to shave in direction of growth, if I do this the razor will simply glide over the hair, the only way I can get it cut is to go against the growth direction. We are all different, what works for one wont work for another.
i always bleed i use gillette mach 3 but what i do is shave b4 i have a shower, if i have cut myself when im in the shower the hot water stops any bleeding that has happened. but will try diff methods that have been mentioned above

Yes, exactly, if i shave NOT against the hair then how will the razor remove it! Thanks for the bodyshop advice Ratter15!
I do shave after a shower because then the pores have opened up in the hot water so should be easier to remove hair that way.

what do you want so many razor blades for? Isnt one sharp one good enough?
hi
I also bleed every time i shave, usually worse if i shave in the evening just before going out.
When i was younger and used an electric shaver, even that used to cut me occasionally, and once even took the tip of my tongue off when i slipped whilst pushing my cheek out with it.
My advise? Grow a beard
Question Author
Ive grown a beard a few times but it really itches, i dont like the way i look with it on, and im certain that it puts off the majority of the ladies too!
So growing a beard at 25 isnt an option, dude.
filthiestfis, no u are not the only one with this problem, i cut myself shaving sometimes because i have really coarse stubble and it takes me several attempts to cut it off.. And yes, Gillette are a bl00dy waste of time, especially the 'fusion' brand!! Shaving in the morning is ok if u want to do that, that's when i usually do it.

If you visit a Barbers they will show you which ways to pass your razor e.g. your chin, neck, as stubble grows in different directions. :-)
wtf are u rambling on about mr. hughes? dettol and brush, i dont need that! this is the way i always shave, and FYI shaving against the grain is OK, so dont give us that ********.. you're too young to shave, and Wilkinson sword and Gillette shavers? ? Forget about 'em
"... to young to shave ..."

you have made my day, if not my year!
