Well, it has now been 30 months since I quit smoking so I thought I'd post back with a 'progress report'.
Quitting smoking has basically changed my life. My weight has ballooned and I now find it more difficult to exercise. I get out of breath very quickly, as I now suffer from allergic asthma as well as hay-fever.
I still miss the enjoyment of smoking, but the smell of tobacco now makes me feel very ill, as do most strong smells, and as a result I'm pretty bad tempered and irritable most of the time.
Basically, instead of just chilling out for a few minutes several times a day, having a nice relaxing smoke, I just find the world more irritating and difficult to cope with.
I would suggest that eerybody else should have to quit smoking too as I don't see why I should be the only miserable one.
On the plus side, I'm not spending any money on smoking - but then the only reason I gave up was beause I couldn't afford to continue to smoke.
The prospect of living longer is just prolonging the torture !
