Hi guys, moment of (slightly alcohol induced) mini wobble last night on my way home from a work night out.

Basically, I am surrounded by friends and colleagues either getting married or already married, and I feel like the last single person on earth! One of my close friends (who lives in Barcelona, so I don't see that much) was over for business and we went out for dinner last night - but he spent most of the evening on the phone (mine at times!) talking to his live in girlfriend back home. Now, I'm thrilled he is so happy, but for goodness sake, your're out with friends, so focus on who you're with! Then, most unusually, he left early to go to bed -whereas normally he's my partner in crime for late night drinking and talks!

Normally I enjoy my single life, but last night I did get a little upset about it - anyone else have those moments, or am the only silly one out here????

So rather than wanting to not be single and wanting to settle down. You're worried you're gonna be left on your own and cant go on lads nights out :-)
Sorry I hope you are male, I just assumed from your drinking mate. But now I see the name daisybabe I'm not so sure :-}

Kind of... I wouldn't mind being in a relationship again, obviously. But I certainly don't let that impact my life - I have had an amazing summer of sport, music, going away and hanging out with different people - just last night, being single and therefore alone just hit me like a ton of bricks!
i assumed female .
Question Author
female!
It does that sometimes but its not because we are single its just because everybody else isnt. But you seem to me you're not used to being in any relationship and seem quite carefree. How old are you?
Question Author
Pretty carefree on the whole, yes. I'm 28 and on reflection, haven't been in a serious relationship for 3 years. As my mother puts it 'I'm a bad picker'.... but have had some fun over the past 3 years!
Hi daisybabe.
You're not alone!!! Like you most of the time I'm fine and enjoy being single-but it does get me down sometimes. Esp. when lacking in mates to go out with cos they're all doing 'couply' things grrrr. Ooh, and I shall so look forward to the works xmas party when everyone else is there with their partners and I'm making it an odd number!!
Ah thats another thing maybe I should have guessed you were female as to me not alot of blokes worry about it at that age. I''m same age as you and single and pretty much like you, I enjoy going out meeting new people, but I'm also very needy too. I worry about getting to 30 and not having anyone there to have kids with. I dont think blokes worry about it till a later age.
Weddings are the worst, do I take a boy mate and then have no chance with other blokes there as they think I'm taken or do I take my girl mate then end up looking a right lezzer. :-)
oh, the kid thing 4get. Tell me about it- I got one pregnant sister and another one trying and then there's me. I think mums gonna put a sign out on the road for a man to take me if I dont find him soon lol
You 2 want to join me on my shelf :-)
Question Author
I know the feeling teag1rl - and my usual 'stand in date' for these christmas parties and weddings and stuff, just got married himself last weekend! Now I'm on search for a new 'stand in'!

Good to hear I'm not the only one out here, then. Although, 4getmenot - I get the opposite of needy - I get told (by my male friends) that I am too independant and frankly intimidating, to guys because I seem so 'in control'!

The irony being that when it comes to guys I'm really quite shy....
Or worse on the wedding dilema is that they dont even bother inviting plus guest cos they know I'm always single!! Thats just bl00dy rude I think-at least give me the option to have the problem of who to take lol
Question Author
Yes! I get sooo annoyed these days that I don't even get invited with a 'plus one'!!
budge up 4get-its getting crowded on this shelf!!
Question Author
but what is the ettiquette of taking a female guest?? I had that dilemma last weekend - and ended up taking my mother!!!!
See I always get a plus one. But that makes me think is that because I have no friends there I have to bring my own :-) Bit cold up on this shelf
Question Author
shove over 4get - I'm bringing a blanket and a bottle!
ladies you are all too young to think of yourselves as . on the shelf. enjoy the single life as long as you can before long you will have the constraints of a partner and children and your now carefree memories will be in the distant past,
