Thanks all for your best wishes.

Pixi - did your colleague tell people of this at work?

Has she or her partner changed her name surname?

My partner is wanting to change her surname to mine.
muchlovex, how lovely that you are wanting to do this. I used to know a couple who had a civil ceremony. They were not gay, just didn't want to down the marriage route. They worked in the same company as me. They did tell us in advance and we were all (men and women alike, straight and gay people alike) delighted for them even put on a big party for them as a surprise. It opened the doors to a gay couple in the company doing the same a year later. Oh, and they got a great party too!! So go for it and don't be afraid to be honest and open to your those around you. Your intentions are to be respected. Congratulations. Hope it turns out to be a truly fantastic day for the two of you!
hi muchlove, yeah she told everyone as soon as it became possible to have the ceremony that they would do it asap. I dont know about the surname thing though sorry, though i do think its lovely that your partner wants to change her name to yours. :D
