I have a pair of 100% polyester trousers. For some reason they make me moist and sweaty around the groin area. Is this common with trousers of this material? Keep thinking that I may have a problem with overactive sweat glands in this area? Does anyone have any similar experiences?

dump the trews. Without a doubt. Get some nice linen ones for the summer or a cotton mix and some wool mix ones for the winter. Plus you could try some talcum powder around the offending area as a short term fix. The powder they sell as 'feminine hygiene' is actually very good. I hope you're a bird now, sorry if youre not.

I agree with comloulou. Wearing polyester is like wearing a plastic bag. You are encouraging the things that you complain of. Many drinks bottles, for example, are made of polyester obviously to keep the liquid inside them. Get rid, and get yourself some natural fibre trousers. Same for knickers, another area where we need natural fibre.
In total agreement! Polyester + trousers, shorts, pants etc. can = fungal infections - cotton, or cotton mixture most definitely.
Dippy Delia, 100% polyester is plastic. If you are wearing trousers or knicks made from this it will not take much imagination to work out why you are sweaty. As the previous answers have told you, go for cotton to allow your nether regions to breathe, and also to soak up the natural perspiration. Get with it gal !!!!
Agree with all said. Note: tights have exactly the same effect, it is especially important to wear cotton pants (not just a thong) under these.
I totally agree and have the exact same problem. Wearing polyester trousers anytime is just a total nightmare, so i've ditched them; but you wouldn't believe how hard it was to find somewhere that stocked cotton or linen trousers!!
