does anyone mind their name being shortened

Dot.hawkes = dotty
pinkfizz =pink
chinadoll = china
etc etc you get my drift, in my real life (yes i have one) my name is often shortened to kirst instead of kirsty which i don't mind unless i don't know them then it hacks me off

You can't shorten mine anyway, well, 'cept for Clur (Sash! ;o)) or CB (Zorro). It's usually lengthened actually, to Claire-Bear or my friends from back at school call me Clairifer (can't even remember how that one started!) :o)

In the Real World <shudder> I never shorten ma name. If I speak to other offices or employers, I always say ma name and it annoys me when these total strangers think it okay to shorten ma name. If I'd wanted to be known by that name I'd have telt them.
