vegetables for guinea pigs
6 Answers
Any advice please. I purchased a guinea pig 2 weeks ago and started to feed it with guinea pig pelletts and also various vegetables as all the books i had read on the subject said this was a good source of vitamins for them. However, I then purchased a 2nd GP a week later from a different shop. This shop advised NOT to feed vegetables or fruit until they were 6 months old. Does anyone know which advice is correct. They seem to like and eat the veg I have given them, but am worried they should not be having it

It's best not to give them too much while they're young and build it up. Lettuce is fine for guinea pigs in moderation but not good for rabbits at all. G.pigs can't make they're own vitamin c. They are the only animals that can't besides humans and if they don't get enough it is fatal. They like banana but not too much as it contains too much. besides that anyhing goes apart from the obvious being onion and potato. They also like rose pettles and leavesand they love fresh herbs like fennel and basil.
