Why is it that some people can remember things that happened years ago, but cannot remember what happened last week.

selective memory i guess.
Short term memory loss, brought on for various reasons:

Age
Senile Dementia
Ahlzheimer's
dots right.
Can you recall what you had for dinner on jan 5th 1986? How about yesterday?
Important things are never forgotten. I can remember every detail of my wedding day of 10 years ago, but had it been 2 months ago id still remember it.
Lol got the " badge" for that !
I watched a documentary about this years ago. From what I remember- the memories from your younger years are stored in a different part of the memory 'filing cabinet' - called the cerebral cortex which is for long-term storage. As the years go on and the events become more 'every day' - these memories are stored in a different part of the filing cabinet which is less
accessable.
I scrolled down this far and forgot the question........

That wasn't even last week just a few seconds, lol brilliant !!

I can go all the way back till I was a baby in my cot. Strange that I cant remember all the stuff I did last week.
