I left the Army after the Gulf but rejoined as a Medic and went again to NI, all in all I did 7 tours out there, then in 1993 I did an operational tour in Bosnia and again in 95, and I was part of the Nato invasion of Kosovo, 2002 saw me in Afghanistan. I should have gone to Iraq in 2003 however, a broken ankle kept me in blighty.
I retired in 2004.
As for sharing experiences, I will be doing that on 12th November with my comrades.
PS your welcome

People and places has gone.I'll leave this question here.
I'll give you an example of what I'm talking about.
My Mum's boyfriend served in WWII (He's 84) and he personally despatched 6 German soldiers by stabbing them in the heart from behind. He was always sent "Because he was the smallest" He says he still has flashbacks and is scared of dying because the soldiers he killed may be waiting for him. I consider him a hero.

dan,
My ex husbands dear grandfather was often haunted by the sight of a young german soldiers face as he let him and fellow undercover soldiers into barracks. Just minutes later my ex's grandad had to sneak up behind him and slit his throat.
I would listen to his stories for hours, he only told his family of his undercover work a few months before alzheimas set in. he would have taken it to his grave as he always thought his work was to be kept secret even after the war ended.
Any soldier who has been through such experiences, or served his country deserves our thanks and respect.
