coccyx injury

hi, on tuesday i had a bad fall and landed on my coccyx. i am sufferin a bit of pain any advice or treatments. thanx

You may have chipped or cracked a bone, so I think an X ray would be best first. Painkillers containing codeine i.e. co-codamol are effective and rest

Usually a bruised coccyx needs no treatment just usual painkillers. The pain will ease after about a week. Poor You. This happens to many tall people, are you tall?

Poor silverdale5, I know how that hurts. Fractured my coccyx many years ago in a riding accident. It can be very painful indeed. I think you should call NHS Direct and see if they recommend you have an x-ray. If just a little bit has been chipped off this will gradually heal on its own. I had a hairline fracture and also a largish chip off mine and it has never really healed because I didn't have an x-ray or treatment. I am told it should have been pinned and I should have rested it up for a few weeks, but I didn't do any of that. So, rather than being sorry, be safe and have it checked out. Best wishes :o).
