Evening primrose oil works for me - on the emotional side anyway. I'm certainly better since I started taking it. I take one capsule EVERY day.
Evening primrose oil and vitamin b6 and 12 all good for this kind thing, but wud recommend a chat with the doc or at the very least the pharmacist, as you dont say how old she is. Herbal is all well and good, use it regularlly meself, but shud still be taken under advicement! Chocolate and hot water bottles take alot of beatin if u can curl up on the couch. Sucks being a girl, eh!!
Can I just say that when I was younger I never had any PP and was unsympathtic to anyone that did. Well now I am nearing the menopause how times have changed. I was in agony last weekend - tablets did not touch it and I wasted the whole weekend feeling washed out. Guess that just serves me right
I too sufer with PPains, I take supscription tablets from my doctors and i find a hot water bottle and cranberry juice helps me. Hope ur sis feels better soon ;o)
raspberry leaf tea is the thing for the womb and ovaries etc.
most health food shops will have this

also try a hot water bottle

rescue remedy to calm her

and, bizarrely, when i have had really bad pains, i have found that going on a fairground ride gets rid of them and i feel great. - this is either because of the adrenalin or the vigorous movement of the body, but as i don't get scared or over excited on rides i think it may be that the movement perhaps acts like an "internal massage"
obvious fairground rides aren't that easy to come by, but perhaps advise her to spend a few minutes jumping up and down on her bed - or something - you get the idea
she won't feel like it but believe me it works
For years I had severe depression and bad pelvic/lower back pains during my period. A nutritionist I worked with last year recommended increasing my calcium intake the week before my period, and that has helped immensely. The moods are manageable, and the pains have all but disappeared. I get the calcium mainly through yogurt, and it's working so well I now eat 6 oz. of yogurt a day.
the thing that works best for me is the deep heat creams or sprays. i rub it onto by stomach an the heat really helps much better than tablets i find,
