Why do you?
15 Answers
I am genuinely interested folks. Why do you all 'chat' on here. I guess you could 'chat' at home or to friends, is it because you are (relatively) unknown, because you are bored (what about workmates) or you find empathy here you don't find elsewhere. Were any of you once CBers? It was all the rage, started as a way of finding out about roads and places, moved on to interesting chats abroad then got hijacked by locals who just got more and more smutty and boring until everyone gave it up. Will AB go too? I mean the 'chat' rather than the serious questions AB.

I don't remember you from the days of CB???
Anyhows....yes I was ALWAYS in CB I loved it in the beginning.
Whilst i still have the nasty (?) habit of chatting in threads, I really do try and stop myself from asking chatty type questions- honest!
And why do I chat here? Ummm, I guess it's because it's the only place where you can waffle to folks whilst wearing your PJ's and slipper. I did try that in our local high street once, and the response was most unpleasant :-(

Yep It was the Citizens Band Radio I was referring to.
It took up soooooooooooooo much time. It was very addictive at first nothing else much got done. However I find that whenever I pass the study I am beginning to pop in 'just for a quick look' to see what else of interest is on AB.
Sad isn't it.
Where I live Nothing Happens it is very 'out in the sticks'
I was not criticising the chat, by the way, just hoping everyone would be here still for ages.

The dynamics of AB are perfect. In a chatroom like MSN things move too quickly, if you haven't responded within a few seconds you get nagged and nudged.
On here, there is time to think (think - lol !!) and a little company of players like a drama group. People have their own characters and foibles, and it often gets hilarious.

It's nice here because it's a novelty to be able to get a word in edgeways for me. At home, everyone else is either chatting away 20 to the dozen, or they're busy in their own little worlds. I've been married for so long that we don't have much interest in each others lives anymore - don't seem to have much in common. So on here I can choose to comment on something I find interesting. I still feel like an outsider 'cos I'm new and most of you seem to know each other, but you seem a friendly bunch and eventually I won't be the new one, I suppose!
