what is the point of them? do people think that they get the stuff for free when they use them? and why do you have to stand for ages behind someone who is paying for something that costs about 87p with one? i was brought up that if you dont have the money in your hand you dont get it, bar a house everything i have ever bought has been with cash, why do people then complain that they are in so much debt? they think they are wonderful opening their purses and wallets with 567 credit cards in them whilst the sharks are laughing their heads off at them, even the head of barclays bank was quoted as saying that people who use credit cards are mugs - rant over :)

Hi Bob.I used to have credit cards till my ex stiched me up bigtime. Now I only use my Solo and Electron cards to pay direct from my bank,or cash!
I would never have another credit card if you paid me!
Bob - maybe they were using debit cards?

Still annoying when youre behind someone in a queue who's paying for something small with a card

debit cards are fine its just people waving credit cards about like they are a passport to buy things for free
I was asked for my credit card when I stayed in a hotel recently, when I said sorry I dont have one, then proceeded to place fourty pounds in cash down infront of her you would have thought that I had just placed a piece of sh*t on the desk? I was looked at as if I was an alien or something.....Im from the same school...if you havent got it then you cant have it!!

exactly lou lou you pay with cash and they look at you like you should have a stocking over your face
What drives me mad is even though I cut up all my cards after my ex ran them all up to the max, and I paid it all off, what do the companies do - keep sending me application loans for MORE cards!! I must get 5 a week - it drives me nuts!! If I cant pay for something on the spot I just go without.
You are blaming the tool rather than the user bob. Nowt wrong with credit cards, if used properly... but many people get a card, see a limit of say 2 grand, and that somehow translates into "ooh i got 2 grand in cash". Used properly, they can provide a very handy way of deferring payment, interest free which can be incredibly useful.
Without some form of credit, very few of us would have houses, for instance.
And the head of barclays didnt in fact describe those who use credit cards as mugs... just those who used Barclaycard :)
I don't have and never have had a credit card. I too was brought up to save for stuff. I'm not really a 'want it now' kind of person anyway. Everything I own was bought with cash(except the house).
I like cash, never had a credit card, never will have one!!
I was given one when I opened my student account in 1997, used it once for the free 25.00, paid the small balance off the next day and not used it or any credit card since and not planning to.

There are good reasons for using them to purchase some things due to the added protection given and a good example is the Farepack fiasco but i'm the same, if you haven't got it, don't spend it.
I can pay 87p with a credit card faster than I can count out 87p in coins (I keep getting the coins muddled up unless I have me specs on). Actually, you get credit free until the end of the month, which is worth something; then if you pay it all off on time there's no charge at all. Result.
im the same wont have a credit card, how do you buy stuff from the internet, say ebay without one?
I've got them, and I occasionally use them, mainly online, but I always pay the whole amount straight off. Proper fools game to use them and only pay off the minmum amount, and yes people do look at you as if you're a piece of .... if you use cash, I've noticed it too.
I got mine when I was a student simply because it came with a free popcorn maker. I used it quite a lot when I was travelling last year because it saved having to carry large amounts of money round with me and many places abroad didn't accept Switch but accepted Visa. However, I hardly ever use it over here unless I'm buying something expensive for which I know I will have the funds in my bank in a couple of weeks but don't have at the moment.
is popcorn a reliable source of income in the barter system while travelling abroad robbo? or did i read that totally wrong!! lol
had one, paid it off, cut it up. the folding stuff for me every time.
What a strange viewpoint! If you use credit cards, according to you, it means you're living on tick and beyond your means. I use a credit card nearly all the time (not for amounts, say under a tenner) and then the bill is paid off in full when it comes in. It is purely a matter of convenience - if you use a debit card, you have to make sure there is enough money in your current account before you can use it. If you pay by credit card, you also have protection against companies when the goods are faulty or you have some other problem - they will go into bat for you. Say you were buying a suite of leather furniture, would you seriously carry around several thousand pounds in cash to pay for it.
