I do. I've experienced events that lead me to believe in ghosts
I do.....I have seen one on a couple of occasions in a pub that I worked in years ago. It was the strangest thing because it strongly resembled one of my colleagues. One particular time, I was working in the kitchen and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a large lady with blonde hair. Thinking it was my colleague, I started talking to her, when I turned to get an answer, she was gone. My boss then walked into the kitchen and I asked him where my colleague had gone, he said that she wasn't working that day, so he had no idea who I had been talking to. The same figure was spotted by a couple of us a few days later, sitting at one of the tables in the restaurant.....she wasn't there when we went back to check though. I left the pub not long after these apparitions started appearing. I have lost touch with most of my colleagues from there, so I have never heard anything since about the mysterious blonde lady. Maybe she's a past diner who keeled over waiting for her dinner!
Ghosts - All belief is for it, all evidence is against it.
It depends what you mean by "ghost". If you mean an external physical entity, independent of the observer, then no. If you mean a series of phenomena which can lead people to believe that they have seen a ghost, then yes. e.g. one experiment found that there was an inaudible background noise at 19 Hertz in the room concerned, which is the same frequency as the resonance frequency of the human eyeball. Therefore the vibration caused the observer to see a shadow in the peripheral area of vision, which was actually just a blur caused by the vibration. Also, some things can happen as a hallucination or induced belief, in which it is just in the mind. But "it is just in the mind" doesn't mean it is not real; the mind is real and it may be a phenomenon of the mind. (like dreams).
Bernardo -when you say the mind is real, what do you mean?
What I'm getting at is that the brain is real and because of its complexity it has produced the phenomena of consciouness in humans -which is what I assume you mean by 'mind'. That is real but the things that the mind recognises are not necessarily real. For example someone with a mental health problem may hear voices. The voices have no objective reality, but they seem real to the individual hearing them - but they are not real. I think you are stretching the definition of real a little too far.

When I was very young I once saw a victorian woman - the image was so vivid I can still describe the dress she was wearing some 35 years later. However I have not seen anything since - maybe your more susceptible when your younger.

Sorry to disappoint you 9shearer9, it was just outside Hemel Hempstead in Herts. Einstein, when you say "sensory experiences", what exactly do you mean? I also think that I have seen/felt the presence of of my Grandfather......but wasn't really going to mention it because I just wasn't sure, so I am intrigued to know what you felt.
I thought I saw one when I was a kid, but Ma said it was just a dream and I wasn't old enough to know the difference. Hubby has definitely had experience of ghosts and feels presences, particularly in certain places. I've always been open-minded to most things until proven either way. Relatively recently though (i.e.last 10 years) I have had 3 definite 'spiritual' experiences (not sightings) that lead me to believe rather than disbelieve.
One was when I was falling asleep in the bath and a very loud shout of 'NO' woke me in time to stop me slipping under the water - needless to say there was nobody else in the house at the time. The next was when my friend's dead father spoke to me when I was very worried about her - he didn't introduce himself, but I just knew it was him. The most recent was him again (by deduction) playing with the bedroom TV in the night - we had left it on standby and suddenly at 3.30 am it began flashing like a camera. When I eventually got to speak to my mate, I discovered that was when she was attempting suicide.
Maybe there's a logical explanation, but I'll go with the ghosts!
