Will this be successful?

If I set up a "fat camp" for overweight yet middle class children during school holidays, would it be a success?
I have quite a few spare bedrooms, live on a couple of countryside acres and know more about health and fitness than the majority of so called experts. I can also arrange a good cook no problem.
With the relevant health and safty measures and CRB checks certificated I could be doing some good for the health of the nation and make a tidy sum in return.
Am I on to a winner, or wasting my time?

Why not give it a go for adults first, (less responsibility), and from what you learn from this process, you would be better able to assess the pros and cons of taking in children.
Don't call it "Fat Camp" though, something a bit more subtle to encourage the customers.
Picking a name for your enterprise would make a good thread in itself, eh?

Well Wardy I still dont think it would work as a Fat Camp. If you are looking for chubby young upper class boys to go and stay with you at your property, so you can dress them up in uniforms and play toy soldiers perhaps it should be called something else.
Incidentally, they would have issues as you say, so you would probably need counselling skills at the very least or employ someone who does.

Noxy, you alone here with my idea (this isn't my masterplan as discussed yesterday though)
Oct, I see your point but the whole couselling thing isn't me. If the kids are run ragged up hills and swimmming all day whilst eating loads of fruit surely there problems will fade away in a few weeks.
Naturally as a leader of men, I will instil self esteem and discipline which may help.

Actually, all joking aside, he does have a point to a degree. Excercise is excellent for counteracting depression, I know, it's the only thing I use to control my own serious depressive condition. I really do think that cutting through the narkiness and sarkiness on this thread, it might work for some, although not all porblems "fade away" with an improved fitness level, a sense of accomplishment and self esteem never hurt anyone.
As quoted in the article I linked above Wardy:
Professor Nick Finer, of the Obesity Research Centre based at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, Bedfordshire, said: "You have to consider the psychological effects of sending your child away to such a place.
"Society already discriminates against fat people and I'm concerned that children might see being sent to these camps as a punishment for being fat."
Im not convinced you have the right credentials or morals to have obese children residing in your vicinity. Rich or poor.
