NHS are cutting costs right now and putting people on the back burner, medically you may not be so good at present (blood pressure etc.,) wards are closing temporarily and there's MRSA that are postponing operations, or possibly any drugs that you are currently prescribed. The only way to find out why you have been told that you can't have a hip replacement is going to be to ask your doctor.
I need a new hip.In my case ..I was told... and by a private consultant that they don't like to do them until they are practically on the last knockings. I am 58 .They have a limited lifespan of about ten years and a second one does not always "take ". So they like to leave it as long as possible if you can cope. A friend of mine had one at 50 and she now needs another one twelve years later .They are doing this thing now where instead of a complete hip they cut out the diseased bone and put a plastic filler in . I can live with mine for now but it is gradually getting worse and then I shall ask again. Ask your GP for the reason why you cannot have it done.If he can't give you one and you are finding life difficult coping with it then complain. It's not about what they don't want to do it's about what you want them to do, if your quality of life with your dodgy hip is affected to the point where you cannot get about.
I am 67 and had my hip replacement in August and I am doing so well.No pain and almost back to walking without a limp.I have been able to go christmas shopping with my daughter and keep up with her instead of needing to sit down for a rest.In my ward several of the ladies had medical problems heart, diabetes, high blood pressure etc but they were all doing well at my out patients clinic after 6 weeks.Mind you we have a fantastic Hospital. The North Hants in Basingstoke.I would persist in your quest for a new hip if you are in pain.Good luck.
I don't understand why you cannot have a hip replacement. I went to France for mine and they were absolutely brilliant. I did not have an aesthetic just an epidural which was much better. I was walking unaided by the time I left the clinic two weeks later.
