I was always of the belief that it was meant to mean that you were going to be angry. Itchy hands as 4getmenot said and itchy nose meaning feeling angry.

Hmmm, i have heard this many a time. Apparently it does mean you are about to get a surprise. usually it means your gonna get bagged off :(
