We nicked the idea from the American thanksgiving celebrations.

The traditional christmas dinner is goose, I believe.

LFAO @ Octavius.... very good!

Naz - My mum says we 'eat turkey at christmas because I do like it, the same with brussel sprouts, besides it's tradition, stop moaning... if you throw that on the floor for the cats you will be smacked with the ladle... no, you're not having more wine until you've eaten your turkey and sprouts.... fine, fine, I'll make more bl00dy gravy, you don't appreciate me.... will you stop playing with you food and eat your fu**ing turkey!'

Or at least the reason goes something like that, I wasn't listening, I was trying to give my turkey to the cat.
Brilliant Octavius...lol
And at China...very funny
Henry V111 started the tradition in England - before he ate it one Xmas, England ate goose.
Being a free-thinking radical I don't eat turkey at Christmas. Haven't done for about 6 years now.

My favourite ever Christmas dinner in the world EVER! (Volume 1) was a freshly baked french baguette with Saint Agur and Duck's Liver pat, all washed down with a glass of reserva Rioja. It was stupendous!
We don't eat turkey on christmas day either ~ we have duck & gammon :o)

I usually go up to my mums on boxing day and have cold turkey...much nicer!
You can eat Turkey at anytime of the year the same as anything else.
My family always had a huge ham for Christmas and a huge turkey for Thanksgiving - but we had them at other times of year as well. Now, since my brother-in-law does the holiday cooking, we always have BOTH at both holidays!!!
