Does Allen Carr work?
12 Answers
I intend giving up smoking on Boxing Day because I want to get the worst of it over before I go back to work etc. I'm about halfway through Allen Carr's Easyway to give up smoking. Feel quite positive at the moment, and trying to stay that way, but for more encouragement, has anyone out there had any success with this book? Hope so, fingers crossed, because I don't really want to go down the route of NRP. Thanks.

But when I got to the end I just couldn't do it.
He does say that sometimes you have to read it again, so next year I'm going to try again.
Good luck to you and I hope you manage to quit.
I've heard more stories of people who have quit using his book than people who haven't, perhaps it wasn't the right time for me!
All the best x

Congrats to all of you that have managed to give up, and to all those who didn't quite manage it, good luck next time.
I know that Allen Carr died last month, but what a difference he has made to so many lives.
Ciggies do nothing for us whatever, except shorten our lifepan, so why do we do it? It's not like anybody's holding a gun to our head. I've never been able to manage more than a few days before, but I can be very stubborn, so I'm hoping to turn this to my advantage and not let a little white stick beat me, lol. Keep your fingers crossed for me everyone and I'll do the same for you. Thanks for all your answers.

Thanks Fruitsalad. I need all the encouragement I can get. This time I'm doing it because I want to and I feel ready. Can't wait to smell nice, have more money and be able to cope with kickboxing better, instead of collapsing in a heap at the end of each session, lol.
Congrats on your success. You must feel so much better.
