13 Answers
Was wondering if someone could answer this question for me.....I was at a party last night and my partners sister-in-law asked me was it true that you could renew your engagement ring after 7 years.... I said to her my sister did, but she had been married about 15 years at the time.

So what do you do with your old engagement ring? Not sure I like the idea of getting another to be honest, it's kinda like saying the orginal wasn't good enough.
I do realise this isn't answering your question, lol, but i'm curious....oh ok, I'm nosy ;-)
Oh and happy New Year to you too, hope 2007 is good to you and yours Red xxxx

Well I have a friend who has 3 engagment rings - I can only imagine that this is for different "dress occasions" you know gold, silver, platinum or whatever.
I think that if a couple get engaged on a shoe-string and then one day have some spare cash and the man wants to buy a .... 'better' ring then that is fair enough if that is what the woman wants, but you would hope that just like the wedding ring (and marriage), it is for life. I certainly won't be replacing my wifes engagment ring in 7 years - utter nonsense. I might buy an eternity ring but would never 'replace' the one ring I bought for that special occasion.

I never heard of that either ~ and to be honest I wouldn't want to replace mine, even if I won the lottery!
The ring symbolises the promise to marry, and the kind of ring given usually matches where you were financially at the time ;o)
I was with Mr P when mine was bought. I chose it and no matter how much or little it cost I am keeping it.
