From what date were UK dentists allowed to call themselves doctors......any ideas???

I wasn't aware that they could, unless they have are medically qualified (ie graduated in medicine plus postgraduate clinical practice and registration with the GMC), or they have a PhD in some subject ( doesn't necessarily have to be in dentistry)
