I have just walked back from the shops after trying to buy something for lunch as part of my weight loss plan and I am more confused than ever! All I wanted was a tin of vegetable soup ( yes I know - I am going to make my own when I find a good recipe) but every label was so different. The ones that were very low fat had quite a lot of salt and high carbohydrates, the others that seemed to have low fat and carbs then had more sugar than the rest! So my question is - in order to lose weight and get healthier, when I have to buy a tinned or boxed food such as cereal or soup,do I choose the ones with 1. low fat 2.low carbs 3.low sugar 4.low calorie Or none of the above but a different answer?? All help appreciated! P.S. I chose the low fat in the end as my brain was frazzled.

I always try to choose foods that are low in saturated fats, low cal, and high fiber. I don't worry about salt since my blood pressure is low.

I have a lovely soup recipe I can give you later if you'd like....
