I have seen somewhere before a time table style list of the positive effects of not smoking. For example, what happens 3 hours after no cigarette, then 3 days, then a week and so on. I think it mentioned things like how long it takes for toxins to leave you're body, etc. I'm trying to quit and only on day one but finding it hard already. I think seeing something like this may spur me on a little. Anyone have any clue?

sorry, I didn't mean to post twice. Please feel free to remove one Ed .
Just think about the money you will save. I gave up 2 months ago and health wise feel no better. I was on 40-45 a day so you`d think there would be some improvement. I have never gone cold turkey, maybe you need a patch or something. I am using the nicorette inhilator.

I am using a patch which I put on before I went to bed last night. I think it's more just the habbit I'm in of popping outside at work and in the car that I need to get rid of.
Take it off!!!!!
you are meant to wear them during waken hours, what's the point otherwise? they release nicotine into your bloodstream to simulate smoking, you wouldnt smoke in your sleep would you?

I'm using the clear patches that are supposed to be a 24 hours that you were whilst asleep to help prevent cravings when you wake up. That's the way I understood it anyway.
Hi milly, I'm using them too. How are you coping so far? I stopped on thursday and apart from a cople of screaming hissy fits...so far so good :o]

oopps....that'd be couple! Where did you get yor patches from? I got an excellent booklet given to me by my pharmacist. am on a programme where you are supervised by the chemist instead of the doctors.

Hi Divegirl, well I haven't had one yet but like I said its only day one. Thankfully tonight I've been asked to babysit for my sisters kids so I won't be tempted anyway and wont be able to leave the house to buy a shifty pack. I hae actually had the patches for over a year as I quite smoking before but didn't need them (just woke up and didn't want to smoke any more. I was thinking about visiting my GP or alike though as a lot of people have said they are so keen for people to quit they are really helpful.

Good luck to you too! Will soon be a non-smoke for a week before you know it!
