I have a London accent but after living in Hampshire and now Devon people swear that I am South African.

I have a Somerset accent. Sounds a bit like a hobbit, its not particularly strong but there are certain words I say that I just cannot conceal it. Right being the main struggling point.

i used to have a saaaouth london accent, but lived with a irsh man and geordie woman, which took the edge of it, and a long time in the navy, i lost the rest, its more mongrel now, but its still southern, though people say i speak slightly posh, though i have no clue why

my friend is irish but spent his teenage years in london, so has a irish/london accent, which makes him sound swedish, so we call him swedish john

ps, i have always loved bjorks accent.....

Mine is a Shropshire accent Nothing like how they portray it on 'The Green,Green Grass of home' with boicie and marleen. My brothers reckon I sound welsh now after living in wales for the past 9 years. I was working at the NEC in Birmingham when I was 15 a woman from Kings Standing asked if Shrewsbury was in Wales because I sounded Welsh to her.

I have no regional accent but I've been told that I sound like a news presenter, in other words slightly plummy or "properly" as my mother says. I'd love to have an accent, they make people sound more interesting.

People I know in Wales think I sound posh as I lived in London for 12 years, and some think I sound a bit Eastenderish - bit of a difference of opinion there.

People I know in London think I sound really really Welsh you know isn't it.

My husband (a born and bred Londoner) has lived in Wales for 6 years and I can hear his slight Welsh accent already coming through.

I know what you mean Pippa for ages I was convinced that Brian Brown in Cocktail was a londerner, I felt a bit stupid when he turned out to be an Aussie the accents sounded so similar.
