Promotion

Im a manager at work and a promotion (new job) has been created to be the manager of not only my area but also another three/four. It would mean that I would have to manage people currently on my level.
If it were you, would you go for it or would you be put off by the fact that they might be put out if you were suddenly their manager when you all used to be at the same level?

This can be very awkward, probably will be,some will resent thr fact you are now there boss others will expect special treatment, I was a made an estimator/foreman when the one we had retired, at first it was a bit difficult because I had to tell people older than me what to do,some thought I would be an easy touch and because we were mates, they wouldn't have to do much work,I got them all together and told them all I was going to be fair but I didn't want them taking the p!ss,I had to prove myself to them, and it was great, just watch your back,it might be different in an office environment, but as bednobs said only you can know if you want it, have a serious think, if it is what you have been working towards, go for it, good luck, Ray
