Clanad...very good explanation of the phrase, I actually was wondering how long the honeymoon period lasts in other peoples experience. Was just wondering because I've been goin out with my boyfriend for 4 years now and clearly we cant still be counted as being at that stage but I dont remember when it sort of faded, we are still very much in love and still kiss a lot when we're together.

I would say 6 months to 1 year usually.

I think mine lasted about 3 years! it was fantastic but its well and truely over now after he got his '5 year itch' and decided to go and have an affair with the local bike!

My psychology course taught me that it was 6 to 8 weeks.

If you're lucky, that butterflies/can't eat/can't sleep/can't work feeling develops into a condition where all those things are possible because you feel supported and have meaning in life. Still very good, but different, and less exhausting!
