well i for some reason have been looking at holidays and i know it is cheap and tacky but we have not been on holiday before and i was thinking of taking my girlfriend to butlins!

I am so low at the moment and have a lot on my mind but things between me and her have picked up of late and i think she would like it if we were to take a short holiday together. The special offer runs out soon should i book it now and if i take out the insurance i could cancel it if i cant take the time off work or circumstances change?

If your booking a cheap break to get away, then dont go to butlins. Go somewhere like amsterdam or prague. You can get a cheap flight and it will be a lot less hassel, as you wont get people ringing you, etc...
Dont dither worried.me. Go! and have fun:-)) Not tacky at all either.
Snap! Last time we went to Butlins we had a great time Mr Ben. My daughter and her other half are having a 3 day break in Amsterdam next week.
Well done on wanting to take your g/f away, but ..........Butlins?? are you sure? Now before i get shouted at, i spent many many happy holidays at Butlins and Pontins and then made the dreaded mistake of going back some 20 years later!! big disaster, now....IN MY HUMBLE OPINION (thats all) it was a sh$$hole, could you not go to a nice seaside guest house or somewhere you wont be surrounded by loads of people, just time for the two of you. like i said its a lovely thought but i'd have a definate re-think, and once again its only MY opinion?
good luck hope you find somewhere nice!
i wouldnt go to butlins take her some where like paris or something like that thats more romantic and also there will be deals for this, if you dont live anywhere near london take her there for a long week end go to the travel agents and they do packages with shows and travel and take her out wine and dine her make her feel special thats what i would want my bf to do!
It doesn't matter where you go as long as you're spending time together! Is it one of the over 18 weekends? As my friend often goes with her boyfriend there because they have themed over 18 weekends only
curleyperm, was it that bad? The last time we went was about 18 years ago. Pontins was good as well.

Ok thanks for those saying butlins is not v nice but both of us dont have very much money and my passport has run out so would be a lot of hassel to get it renewed and expensive. holiday to butlins diner bed and breakfast for 4 nights is around 100 i dont think you can beat that.

I have looked at center parcs and that is so much more expensive and i would rather go for a cheap break first see how we get on rather than spending lots and it not being worth it.

Hmmm, i was just about to say battersby, when was the last time you went to butlins. ha ha.
Its ok if your going in a group of same sex people nowadays but not as a couple or family...
Just take her to blackpool then and have a good time...
hi battersby (les or janice??) er yes it was that bad, unless when your kids you just enjoy it for what it is, 7 days of fun, and it always seemed to be hotter back in 1972 when i was 10, i guess everybody has different standards, but i found it dirty loud rowdy and the long weekend was about 2 days too long?
worriedyou, if you really are strapped for cash, dont you know anyone who has a caravan, sometimes people advertise them in the p/o window, or local shop? (well they do round here anyway lol)
Cilla? Noooo curly, I only like Les,Fizz and Chesney..lol. Seem's like Butlin's changed then? Yeah my kids were a lot younger but we all had a great time, fair dooo's.
Worried, If you're happy to go to Butlins then do it. Just read katangels 'reply and she's right. As long as you're both together it does'nt matter where you go..so go book now:-)
fair enough, doesnt really matter where you are, how abut a tent in the garden?? : )
Question Author
ok suppose doesnt matter where we go. anyway it should be clean etc if not i will complain, i mean it may be cheap but that does not mean to say the room should be dirty sparse maybe and not luxurious fine but dirty no!

just spoken to her on the phone asking about it all. I am rather nervous though never been on holiday with any girlfriend that i have had before. scares me that this marks this out as being serious.
Silver half board accomodation at Butlins is good. We arn't big fans of all the holiday camp activities, and I'm not sure it is good for couples as I've been with my kids, but in Britain there arn't many holiday camps that do half board and self catering is definately not a holiday for mams! We went back 3 times, had great weather, great food, and you don't have to stay in the place all the time if you don't want to. Some of the offers are cheaper than feeding my family at home! Have fun whatever you decide.
Do it. From your previous posts you know that you need a break and change of scenery. i like butlins. Theres entertainment and its just a nice cheesy place to go.
Book it
Question Author
Well i booked it and my girlfriend has asked work and is able to vget the time off. I am not due in work until friday, so feel a bit bad about going in to book my holiday today. what with this possible promotion and other things i tend to go in a lot on my days off to talk to my boss i worry other people think i dont have a life or something.
Stop worrying. Just chill and enjoy your holiday:-)).
