Bed wetting
At what age should you'expect' your child to stop wetting the bed (with the occasional exception)?
My boy's 7 this Summer and still wets the bed practically every night, regardless of how little he drinks.
He's not stressed or worried and is generally a very happy kid, going to bed on time and sleeping through.
He says he's completely unaware of it until he feels his pj bottoms in the morning, and admitttedly he does sleep deeply.
I thought at a certain age you would become more aware of a full bladder, and indeed it's true your kidneys produce less urine at night.
When can I expect this to kick in - apart from parental concern, I can't keep up with clean pj's!

have you tried taking him ,as i did when mine were small, just before you go to bed so his bladder is not full?
at 7 I would be concerned enough to do the GP route.

If theres nothing medically wrong try setting an alarm colck for him at some point through the night. This should rouse him and he can get up and pee. It may take a bit of trial and error to get the right time so hes up before he wets. My auntie did this with my 8 year old cousin and it worked for him. I have used it at work too and it has proved successful. Good luck
My daughter is 8 and still wets every night, I have been putting her in dry night recently and although they stop the amout of discomfort for her and the cleanign for me it is not a solution. You can try a few of these things:..... Make sure the child drinks ALOT of water during the day to stretch their bladder and to teach them bladder control, when they tell you they need to go to the toilet during the day you should try and make them hold it for around 10 mins (sounds cruel and they will probably scream and cry but it does teach them how to hold their wee!)..... The bed alarm which goes off (with a sensor) as the child is about to wet, it will take a few weeks for it to work properly so for the first few weeks the alarm will only wake you, but if you get them up then it helps them associate the alarm with getting up and going to the toilet.... Other things that have been suggested are a form of nasal spray(?) not too sure about that one. You have to avoid getting angry with them as it really is not their fault, they don't want to lie in a bed of wee. I know how you feel, I really do, but just persevere and you and your biy will get there! Good luck
I would certainly go to see your Doctor so that he is aware of this, but at the same time I wouldn't be unduly worried for another year or two. My friends two sons both suffer from bed wetting (and they are quite a bit older than your son) and apparently it's because their brain isn't yet producing the chemical that tells their brain to wake up when the bladder needs emptying. Your Doctor will probably want to keep an eye on your child, and for special occasions, eg cub camp, sleep overs etc there is a special spray you can get prescribed that stops them weeing in the night for that night.
