Someone i know drinks a 70c bottle of vodka every night and has done so for the last 3 years. He won't admit he has a problem and say's his doctor say's his as fit as a fiddle but i don't believe this. Can you tell me what sort of damage drinking a bottle of smirnoff vodka everynight can do?

A hell of alot I'd imagine. Obviously he does have a problem but just won't admit it, which is usually the case. I can't see how any doctor would say that at all so if he's telling you that then that proves that he's addicted, as one of the first acts of addiction is denial. All you can do is try to support him, don't focus on the drink, focus on trying to get him to tell you why he feels the need to do this
