Very confused
15 Answers
I am trying to read all the topics and I keep seeing people posting in green who have been banned. How can they change their name (slighly) and still be here? Surely AB needs to demand a proper ISP address when people join (not yahoo or hotmail) so if a person is banned then they cannot come back here? I am reading that people are banned because they have made too many posts or answers in a short period of time. I can understand that this rule stops flooding but everywhere else there is no banning, simply the inability to post again within 5-10 minutes. Why do they get banned? I think I understand the rules then I am reading all these posts and I am so confused to what the rules are. Is the forum moderated? I have seen a lot of what I would call serious posts that end up as a big joking thread. I think this is mainly on Body and Soul. Can anyone tell me what the rules are as I don't want to get banned because I make posts or answers, and if I get banned how I can remain a member and who are the moderators?

If you are banned and find that your posts for a particular 24 hour period disapear but not earlier ones, it is a technical suspension caused by said accidental overposting. If your entire contribution vanishes and you are not able to sign in with your ID in your profile, then you have indeed been banned by the site and the editor and you may well need to return using another completely new ID.
idadidlovett would be a good choice.

The only problem with banning an IP address though is that other users from that IP address will be unfairly banned too. My hubby and I both use AB , as do my sister and friend when visiting , so if they posted something which got them banned or overposted , resulting in a ban , then I would be banned too. It seems a bit unfair to block access for ALL users of that IP address.
Sadly , some users seem to have more aliases than i've had hot dinners but I am sure that this will be obvious to the AB ED due to how many times they must log in and out under various guises and I don't doubt that some of these said users use their various names to wreak havoc , banning posts and making snide remarks to other ABers. I'm not quite sure what the answer is to that problem.
