Smoking Ban

I am aware that from July 1 this year, smoking will be banned in all pubs, clubs and restaurants.

However, i have not heard if this affects sports stadia, such as football, rugby, etc clubs where the terracing/stands is open therefore not such a perceived health threat.

Is there going to be a ban on such premises?

This from the Smoke-free (Premises and Enforcement) Regulations

"Definition of �enclosed� and �substantially enclosed� premises:

Premises will be considered to be enclosed if they have a ceiling or roof and, except for doors, windows or passageways, are wholly enclosed, whether on a permanent or temporary basis.

Premises are substantially enclosed if they have a ceiling or roof, but there are permanent openings in the walls which are less than half of the total areas of walls, including other structures which serve the purpose of walls and constitute the perimeter of premises. When determining the area of an opening, no account can be
taken of openings in which doors, windows or other fittings that can be open or shut. This is known as the 50% rule.
A roof includes any fixed or movable structures, such as canvas awnings."

I do hope so - I am a season ticket holder for Gillingham (COME ON YOU GILLS) and it is really annoying when the man who sits in front of us lights up.

As far as I know, the footbal stadia in Scotland are non-smoking following the ban, but I cant be certain. I havent noticed anyone smoking, and I would because I detest it.
Bus shelters where I live are non-smoking and they are not fully enclosed.

Well done to the ABers who know the correct plural of stadium. Now we've just got to educate a few of the sports commentators!

As with most of these type of plurals Stadiums is also valid. As is Octopusses, Statuses, referendums.
