i've had a severe pain in my chest for about four months now, it started when i was anxious and nervous about various things including exams. it hurts when i breathe in and out, also just randomly which prevents me from moving - its like my whole body goes into spasm... i also have asthma and suffer regular panic attacks which makes it feel so much worse. i haven't been to the doctor because i don't have it all the time and it's kind of hard to describe. a couple of people from my family have said it could be a pulled muscle - does anyone know what else it could be or what i could do to stop it? thanks x

When I get a cough i cant seem to get rid of it. Last year and the year b4 I had one for couple of months each. Both times I pulled a mussle due to to much coughing...it knacked when I coughed, coz my chest was strained when I coughed. I dont think simple breathing in and out made it hurt as it did not cause strain on the affected mussle

i've heard that if you vomit you can pull a muscle - is this true? i OD'd in september and had to drink a charcoal drink which was supposed to make me sick, which it did for 13 hours. but the pain started about 4 weeks after this - could it start late like this?
Hi harry,

I'd say this is possibly part of the anxiety and panic attacks. When you are stressed you will be subconsciously tensing the muscles in your diaphragm and chest.

Go to the doctors anyway and just say exactly what you have said on here. Even if it not there all the time. Doctors get paid a lot of money so don't feel that you are wasting their time.

I have recently been to see my doc about panic attacks and feeling stressed out. Even though the day i went i was feeling fine!

Go to the doctors, honestly.

Good luck and take care. xx

(P.s- the fags won't help it! ; )
