burning back pain

can anyone help??? for the last 4 months i have an awful back pain just to the left of my mid spine. sometimes it feels like a hot poker is stabbing. I haven't done anything to hurt it although i do have a very active strenuous job. it is always more burning than aching, and driving me mad!! TIA xx

does the pain sometimes extend down your bum? Could be a trapped nerve in your sacrum (well the joint there but I have lost the part of my brain that can spell it).

No, i had sciatica before and its nothing like that. cooking tea at the min and its agony!! x

katie,might be best to see your g p , especially if you have had this problem for 4 months, ie posters on this site are not professional people, hope you feel better soon.
