Sounds dangerous if you ask me. From reading the ad. then essentially it is a gum shield (similar to the ones rugby players wear) coated in the stuff, placed over the teeth for a few seconds. What it fails to tell you is the effects of the bleaching agent on your gums, which if dispensed in this way i imagine will be coated also. A dentist administering the stuff will make sure it goes on the teeth only, and not the gums. I am not a dentist and this is purely my own opinion.
Darth is right, it is best avoided. I thought it looked ok until I asked my dentist - apparently all kinds of gum problems and other nasties may occur through using these sorts of remedies. Why not let your dentist do it for you, then you'll be certain of the outcome?
Of course, bear in mind that the dentist will want you to pay HIM to do it privately, rather than buying yourself a cheaper kit, so his opinion may be biased.
emailer, I highly recommend these products. Ideally, you need to get a dentist to take a cast of your teeth so that he can make a gum shield for your exact requirements. The ones I got fit exactly so that the bleaching agent only goes on your teeth. You then put the moulds on your teeth before you go to bed - the bleach then works away all night. The results will amaze you - even after doing it for 3 days, you will see a difference. The stuff I got was expensive - as I don't know the manufacturer of this exact product, I can't say. However, having your teeth cleaned doesn't work - whitening toothpastes don't work (unless your teeth were pretty white when you started.
