I have got conjunctivitis :(

Hey guys following on from yesterday im the one with the blood shot eye. Woke up in the night with a sticky eye and with musus around it :(.

I'm going to get some of that optrex eye stuff that you can get without prescription.

Still have college today though, do you think its a good idea (i know its contagious- but im selfish and dont want to have to catch up the work)

I'm not sure what the infected eye stuff is like as have only ever used cream from docs for conjunctivitis, but if it saves you a trip to a germ ridden docs surgery give it a go! If you have any probs though, please go to docs, you dont want to mess around with your eyes.
I think you'll be OK to go to college-it's not like you'll be shring towels with anyone will it and if you keep hygeinc and dont fiddle with your eyes I cant see you infecting anyone else.How horrible though for you-hope it clears up soon. :o)

Hi - last time I had conjunctivitis I went to a chemsit not a doctors and they gave me something to sort it out. Don't use optrex though, speak to the pharmacist to get the proper stuff. You should be fine to go to college. Bear in mind it's almost impossible to stop conjunctivitis spreading to the other eye so be aware you may get it in both before long. Good luck!

Hi, My eldest son has woken up with the same thing this morning he had the bloodshot eye yesterday. We usually get given sterile eye drops from the doctor when it flares up. It is highly contagious though and will spread to others if they touch the same towels etc. as you. I always get told that my sons are not allowed in school either when they have it to stop it spreading to the other children. Luckily they are on half term.

I have a bottle of optrex in the cupboard that does help in the beginng just to help control it.

Best to stay home, but seen as you're not going to the do not touch your eye or rub the other one with the same hand or you will spread it to that one too. Wash your hands frequently. For instance if you were to rub your infected eye and then touch a door knob or something and someone else then came along and touched the same knob(door!) then they happen to rub their eye then you could have just passed it along to them.
