Did anyone see the new programme this evening on BBC2 the true stories of the wild west. This week it was about General Custer. There are going to be more over the next few weeks about other wild west men.Billy The Kid ect. It was such a brilliant programme and made me feel so very sorry for the red indians. We even heard Sitting Bull's relation speak about it. Why on earth didnt the "white" men go about things a lot better. Brenda
I was pleased the programme makers were not too intent on demonising or making heroes of members of the 7th Cavalry. It also made a change to see the petty jealousies between men highlighted as a significant factor in Custer's defeat. I must admit I thought Custer had shaved his head before his final campaign and wasn't his usual long haired self at The Little Big Horn. (I may be wrong about that, however.)
